Hi, I’m Amy Benson, and I’m honored to share the story behind Northwoods Wreath Co., a third-generation family business rooted in the heart of Michigan’s Upper Peninsula.
Wreath-making is more than a craft for me—it’s a legacy. Some of my earliest memories are in the “Wreath Shack,” where my mom spent hours handcrafting wreaths. I’d sit on the table, painting pine cones, twisting berries, and watching movies while she worked her magic. It was a family tradition every fall to head into the woods with my mom, grandma, sister, aunt, and cousins to gather pine cones.
We’d see who could find the biggest cache—my record is 20! Those moments didn’t just teach me the art of wreath-making; they gave me a deep appreciation for family, tradition, and the beauty of nature.
Today, I’m proud to continue that tradition with my own children by my side. From gathering brush and picking pine cones to helping craft wreaths, they’re immersed in the process, just as I was. I want them to experience the magic of the Upper Peninsula, a place that holds a special connection for anyone who’s spent time here. For those who’ve moved away or visited, I hope our wreaths can be a little reminder of this special place.

Our cones are hand-picked and painted, our bows are handmade, and each wreath is designed to bring warmth and joy to your holiday season. We limit our production to ensure every wreath meets our high standards for quality and sustainability.
